Wayback Wednesday takes us back to a family of wizards living in Waverly Place. After learning that TJ (Daryl Sabara) is a wizard whose parents are okay with him using magic whenever he wants, Alex (Selena Gomez) gets the group together unaware the secret to success is TJ having charmed his parents which he also does for Alex. While initially happy in a world where her parents don’t worry about magic, or anything else, Alex and Justin (David Henrie) decide to set things right after the pair show no concern with them leaving their younger brother on Mars (where the jumped to for a quick look for his school project).
Highlights of the episode include the runway which Alex creates in the restaurant to decide on her latest outfit, the Martians who offer commentary about the wizards showing up on their world, and the excitement of NASA when the Mars rover becomes unstuck (what happens when they see it suddenly broadcasting in someone’s living room later isn’t explored). By the end of the episode everything is back to normal and ever Alex is happy about being in trouble again (TJ on the other hand is in for a rude awakening once the Russos break the charm on his parents).
