While the second episode of Willow primarily focused on the failures of Willow (Warwick Davis) to teach Elora (Ellie Bamber) magic while the group theoretically started their search for the captured Airk (Dempsey Bryk), “The High Aldwin” ended with Elora captured by the zombie soldiers following them setting up the events of “The Battle of the Slaughtered Lambs” with our fellowship once again abandoning the quest to find the prince and instead searching for Elora.
While the writers continue to try and make Kit (Ruby Cruz) as unlikable as possible, including discovering Elora’s magical potential but not sharing it with the others, her questions to Thraxus (Amar Chadha-Patel) about her father and the magical weapons he sought play into a subplot which will no doubt have a larger payoff in the upcoming episodes. The confrontation with the zombie knights is particularly hard on Jade (Erin Kellyman) who is forced to kill her mentor, Willow’s companion who falls in the battle, and on Prince Graydon (Tony Revolori), who, after finding enough courage to help save Elora, gets himself infected by the same evil magic.
