- Title: White Collar – Pulling Strings

With Peter (Tim DeKay) taking the week off for Elizabeth’s (Tiffani Thiessen) birthday Neal (Matt Bomer) teams up with his former girlfriend, insurance investigator Sara Ellis (Hilarie Burton), who believes her boss (Bailey Chase) might be involved in the unreported theft of a missing Stradivarius.
With Peter involved with his in-laws (Tom Skerritt, Debra Monk), it falls to Diana (Marsha Thomason) and Jones (Sharif Atkins) to keep the former lovers on task and keep Neal’s nose clean, especially now that Agent Kramer (Beau Bridges) has returned to collect intel for Neal’s hearing.
A trip to the symphony recovers the missing Stradivarius but a dead body and the connection to stolen technology from Beijing make the team conclude this is about far more than a single violin. With Sara’s help Neal, Jones and Diana are able to to catch her boss red-handed with the high tech carbon polymer, but what this will mean for Neal and Sara’s future relations, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
“Pulling Strings” is a fun episode and I’m happy to see the return Burton as Neal’s on-again/off-again love interest. The reappearance of Kramer helped tie-in the ongoing season storyline, and remind us Neal’s freedom could still be quite far away, and Peter’s uncomfortable situation with his in-laws (nice casting, by the way) enabled us to see not only a different side of him but gave more for Diana and Jones to do in the field as well.
