Titans - Jericho television review

Another flashback episode, “Jericho” finally reveals the events surrounding the Titans befriending and using Jericho Wilson (Chella Man) in order to find Deathstroke (Esai Morales). Long alluded to, fans finally see the sequences of events which led to the end of the Titans. There does seem to be a disconnect between Dick‘s (Brenton Thwaites) admission to Jason Todd (Curran Walters) at the end of the previous episode (saying “non one” knows the truth) and the events shown here (where all of the Titans are aware of what happened). That rather clumsy inconsistency aside (which has shown up before, I’m guessing because the show’s writers didn’t make a definitive decision until this episode), “Jericho” does more than any other episode of the season to frame Deathstroke as a legitimate threat to the team as he is able to take down both Robin and Donna (Conor Leslie) separately.

While audiences have been shown the truth, I am curious about how these events will be relayed to the younger Titans (and whether or not we’ll see this on-camera). Speaking of the younger group, are we finally going to see them get involved in the larger themes of the season (or will they continue to ride the bench)? I’ll also be curious to see if I’ve guessed right about Rose (Chelsea Zhang) and what side we’ll be seeing her line-up on in the coming conflict between the Titans and Deathstroke. As with Aqualad, the show introduces another intriguing supporting Titans character (more interesting than most of the people currently residing in the Tower) only to kill him off. Chella Man isn’t what I expected from the character, but the choice turns out to be great one for the show and can easily follow how Jericho’s death brought an end to the Titans.
