“Run Boy Run” and “Extra Ordinary” build on individual stories as Number 5 (Aidan Gallagher) begins an investigation into the single clue he has about the apocalypse to come, leading to a humorous team-up with Klaus (Robert Sheehan) who uses unorthodox methods to get the information his brother wants, Vanya (Ellen Page) begins opening herself up to a new student (John Magaro) while the rest of the world continues to negatively reinforce just how unspecial she is, Luther (Tom Hopper) continues to look into his father’s death, and assassins Cha Cha (Mary J. Blige) and Hazel (Cameron Britton) begin their search for Number 5.
The most tender moments come from the show’s least likable character as Diego (David Castañeda) shows some depth and emotion, albeit for a robot surrogate mother rather than his flesh-and-blood family members. The shoot-out by the invaders shows off some of the skill of the team, while also cluing them in on what Luther has been hiding and underscoring just how clueless Klaus can be at times. It may be time for two brothers to clue their families in on secrets that they are keeping, staring with the story behind Luther’s transformation and Five cluing the rest of his family in on how little time they have left on this Earth.
