- Title: The Mentalist – Wedding in Red

Hoping to spend a little time further studying one of his remaining six Red John suspects, Jane (Simon Baker) drags Lisbon (Robin Tunney) to Napa to investigate the murder of a wedding party and keep a close eye on Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley). None of the wedding party, other than the bride’s mother (Christine Dunford), seems particularly sad that the estranged uncle met his end in the lake behind the winery’s chapel. In order to get the two families to honestly open up about what they may know, Jane decides to publicly air the problems the groom’s sister (Lexi Lawson) has with the bride (Erica Piccininni) and the fact that the bride’s mother made out with the groom’s father (Miguel Nájera) the night of the murder.
In order to catch the killer (Wes Ramsey) Jane discovers he needs the wedding to go ahead as planned, as he believes the planned robbery of a $250,000 bible was the motive for the murder, but thanks to his earlier stunt this seems improbable. To get the bride to reconsider going through with the wedding Jane calls on the help of Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) whose own story of love and woe is enough to convince the woman to walk down the aisle with the man she loves.
“Wedding in Red” also features an important B-story as the on-again, off-again, and now back on-again relationship between Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Van Pelt takes a giant leap forward when Rigsby picks up on the hints Grace has been dropping and takes advantage of the setting to propose to the woman he loves. Not wasting any more time, the pair are married in front of their friends the next day. Although Jane’s investigation into McAllister is inconclusive, he is able to shed a few tears of happiness for his friends while hiding in the background at their wedding.
