- Title: The Mentalist – Red John
- wiki: link
With the CBI shut down by the FBI and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and her team all under investigation by Agent Abbot (Rockmond Dunbar) after Patrick Jane‘s (Simon Baker) revelation to the press that Gale Bertram (Michael Gaston) is Red John, Jane stays out of his sight waiting for Bertam’s call. Thanks to the help of Lisbon, Rigsby (Owain Yeoman), Cho (Harry Groener), and Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) who get themselves all arrested, Jane is free to keep his meeting with Red John who, as I suspected, is not Gale Bertram (which Jane knew as well).
With the FBI stymied and his team under arrest, Jane meets face-to-face with the very much alive Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley), although it doesn’t go as either the Mentalist or Red John had planned. After chasing a wounded Red John around the cemetery where his wife and child are buried and the surrounding neighborhood, Jane finally gets his closure as he literally squeezes the last remaining breaths from the man responsible for dozens of killings including the murders of Jane’s wife and daughter.
Although the show gave us a similar story at the end of Season Three, it appears (at least for now) that Jane has finally found closure and this time killed the right man. With the murders of both Bertram and McAllister on their watch it will be interesting to see what heat the FBI take and what that means for the CBI as a whole and Lisbon and her team specifically. And with Jane on the run, how long will it take the series to find a way to sweep the series of gruesome events under the rug and bring the Mentalist back to the CBI?
