- Title: The Mentalist – Green Thumb
- wiki: link
After Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) decides to spend three months in isolated detention rather than accept the FBI’s deal, Kim Fischer (Emily Swallow) heads out to the Cannon River Police Station to convince Lisbon (Robin Tunney) to return with her and get Jane to work on a case involving the disappearance of the computer programmer (Shane Edelman) who wrote code to protect the Federal Reserve banking system. However, neither Fischer nor Abbot (Rockmond Dunbar) are prepared for Jane’s antics.
After Jane talks to both the programmer’s girlfriend (Azita Ghanizada) and his noisy neighbor (François Chau), the mentalist deduces the series of events leading up the man’s disappearance. Instead of sharing his insights Jane decides to run to get extra leverage for his own proposal to Abbot and the FBI. By the end of the episode Jane will have his deal, on his terms, as well as solve both a murder and a kidnapping (while not being constantly thrown in jail by the FBI).
Along with Lisbon, Cho (Harry Groener), and Fischer, “Green Thumb” starts to fill out the other remaining members of the team including young IT star Wiley (Joe Adler) whose technical insights are in direct contrast to his naive nature and social skills. Lisbon, proving her knowledge and skills to Fischer in the field, and given her ability to “control” Jane, is offered a position as the FBI as well beginning a new chapter in her life far from the boredom of the Cannon River Police Station.
