- Title: The Librarians – And the Heart of Darkness

Haunted houses are real. Attempting to repair broken lay lines leads the Librarians-in-Training to Slovenia where they discover a young girl (Lea Zawada) whose friends have met a gruesome end inside a house that Jenkins’ (John Larroquette) research tells them has the ability to appear randomly throughout time and space (but not for the reasons the Librarians initially suspect). At times a bit too goofy for its own good (remember the Minotaur and Santa?), these last two episodes of The Librarians have been slightly more serious in tone, while still keeping the oddball core dynamic of the group, as the show seems to be finally finding the right tone.
The episode’s plot twist isn’t all that shocking but it does allow the episode to take a darker tone than I’ve grown to expect from the show so far. The entire adventure also allows Cassandra (Lindy Booth) to prove to Eve (Rebecca Romijn) and the other Librarians, along with herself, that she can be counted on and is far tougher than any of them give her credit for. Given the dark portends of Morgan’s warning and now a haunted house episode I wonder what the show has in mind for it’s two-part finale next week. And was the small model of the house showing up in the Librarians’ trunk simply a final nod to the episode or might it tie into what’s coming?
