- Title: The Flash – Potential Energy
- wiki: link
The Flash returns from its mid-season hiatus with a new meta-human with the ability to slow down time. While racing to fight the Turtle (Aaron Douglas), who it turns out can slow down even the Fastest Man Alive, Barry (Grant Gustin) also contemplates telling Patty (Shantel VanSanten) his secret. Distracted by the new super-villain in town, the choice is eventually taken out of Barry’s hands when Patty decides to leave Central City, and Barry, to pursue her career.
Patty’s departure is a blow to the show given Gustin and and Van Santen’s on-screen chemistry. Hopefully we haven’t seen the last of Detective Spivot. Before the end of the hour “Potential Energy” will not only reveal the darker nature of Earth-2’s Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) but also tease us with the return of the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher). Although Zoom continues to be the season’s big bad, it seems that’s far from the only trouble the Flash will have to deal with over the second-half of the show’s sophomore season.
The episode’s B-story allows viewers to get to know Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) a bit better. Unfortunately the show has gone for the New 52 punk kid version of the character. That and his unresolved daddy issue make him pretty damn insufferable for most of the episode. Here’s hoping the show’s writers allow the giant chip on the kid’s shoulder to melt as quickly as possible.
