- Title: The Flash – Back to Normal

Barry (Grant Gustin) struggles to readjust to life without his speed which proves even more difficult when Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) is kidnapped by a meta-human (Haig Sutherland) while searching for Jesse (Violett Beane). Even without his powers, Barry can’t sit back and do nothing. Gathering the team and Jesse together for a little old fashioned police work, and a bit of luck, the Flash races into action (albeit at a much more normal pace).
Although “Back to Normal” works by focusing on Barry’s loss and the challenges that are presented by defeating a meta-human without his speed, I hope the hero gets his speed back quickly. The addition of Jesse to the team, be it temporary or permanent, makes up for its missing member. The tease of recreating the accident which gave him his speed certainly has possibilities (and perils). The increased role of Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) also makes me wonder whether Wells’ next experiment might have unintended consequences for the man destined to become Barry’s sidekick.
Abducted by Zoom (Teddy Sears), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) makes a temporary ally in her Earth-2 doppelganger which turns out to be a really, really bad idea. It seems Caitlin isn’t going anywhere until Barry can regain his speed. The identity of the man in the mask continues to be a mystery teased almost weekly at this point. Given the build-up, the reveal better be good.
