Now knowing who Charlie (Milo Ventimiglia) really is, Emma (Catherine Haena Kim) sends him in undercover to take down Daphne Finch (Felisha Terrell) by getting the would-be mob boss into an exclusive gathering of the most elite of the elite. While Charlie works various angles to get Daphne the guns she wants, Emma gets a bit jealous how easily the pair work together while running into a colleague (Sachin Bhatt) running security for the event who she has to prevent from blowing her authorized investigation on the grounds.
Even with the pair working together, the structure of the episode keeps Charlie and Emma apart for all but a couple of short scenes including the end of the episode suggesting the pair’s romantic interests, but not their feelings, have been shelved for at least the short-term. The episode’s B-story centers around the return of Birdie’s (Sarah Wayne Callies) ex Simon (Geoff Stults) and the truth about why he disappeared from the lives of Birdie and their daughter (Shaylee Mansfield). Giving the family something else to do while Charlie works with Emma, you can’t help but think there’s another shoe to drop where Simon is concerned.
