- Title: The Boys – The Female of the Species

After releasing her while searching the hidden supply house where A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) gets his drugs, Butcher (Karl Urban), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capon) scour the city for the murderous woman (Karen Fukuhara) whose connection to larger events none of them yet understand. (I’ll admit, I’m a little lost, too.) Meanwhile, Hughie‘s (Jack Quaid) goes out on a date with Starlight (Erin Moriarty) continuing to find more in common with the hero than he though possible making it even hard to lie to her, and use her to spy on the Seven as the show continues to push Hughie towards a major decision which Hughie will be forced to choose between his new life (and revenge for the death of his girlfriend) and possibly moving on with Starlight.
The episode is most notable for the chase for the strange female (which takes up most of the episode), Hughie and Starlight’s date, a flashback introducing Butcher’s wife (Shantel VanSanten), and a ridiculous sequence where the Deep‘s (Chace Crawford) attempt to be more serious leads to disasterous results and the death of the dolphin he was saving from Oceanland. That poor dolphin. There’s also a team-up involving Homelander (Antony Starr) and Queen Maeve‘s (Dominique McElligott) who attempt to save an airline hijacked by terrorists. Bungling the job by missing the last terrorist, the heroes could still have saved several passengers (but not all of them). Instead, Homelander allows them all to die and uses the tragedy to help sell the idea of introducing heroes into the military. While Maeve objects to his tactics, she chooses to allow the passengers to die and her fellow “hero” to make use of a tragedy he caused.
