The latest extra-creepy member of The Blacklist Reddington (James Spader) sends Lizzie (Megan Boone) and the FBI after is serial killer well known for the style in which the victims’ bodies are left (hung upside down, gutted, and with a bite taken out of their liver). Reddington offers a single insight that their killer is actually a woman (Amanda Plummer) allowing for a new branch of investigation and discovery of just how the Deer Hunter chooses her victims.
With Aleko (Dante Nero) in custody and the body of the harbor mast found Martin Wilcox (Michael Kostroff) begins building his case against Lizzie whose career and freedom appear to be in serious doubt. Choosing the girl over the mysterious voice on the phone (who vanishes when Red misses their meeting), Red keeps Lizzie out of prison but looses his best chance to learn more about what secrets Finch wanted him to know.
The Red/Lizzie relationship is still fractured as the episode comes to an end despite Reddington stepping in to keep Lizzie out of jail. The announced return of Tom (Ryan Eggold) suggests a shake-up in the status quo, but with Tom’s former employer no longer gunning for Red it will be interesting to see what new role he takes in the series and what his connection will be to Agent Keen.
