The first-half of The Blacklist‘s Third Season comes to a close as Reddington (James Spader) is abducted by a local gang just as his plans to clear Lizzie‘s (Megan Boone) name are reaching completion. Dropping everything, Lizzie begins searching for her missing friend even going so far as to reach out to Navabi (Mozhan Marnò) for help which is a decision which will ultimately bite both women in the ass and put the FBI on their trail and getting Navabi fired from the task force.
“Kings of the Highway” is an interesting choice for the final episode leading into the show’s winter break by putting Reddington in danger from threats far less grand than he and Lizzie have been pursuing. Ending with Red turning the table on his abductors and Liz’s capture by the FBI, the episode prolongs the current storyline into early next year and turns the show on its side by placing our former hero in the black site prison originally meant to hold Raymond Reddington. The episode also features a B-story involving Solomon’s (Edi Gathegi) search for the missing Karakurt that nearly gets Cooper (Harry Lennix), his wife (Valarie Pettiford), and Tom (Ryan Eggold) all killed. We’ll just have to wait and see how the terrorist plays into Red’s plans, and how those plans will change with Liz’s capture and the Cabal’s inevitable attempt to silence her forever.
