- Title: The Blacklist – Esteban

The search for Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), Tom (Ryan Eggold), and the baby begins. In Cuba, Reddington (James Spader) calls on the help of nefarious character, and secret CIA asset, Manuel Orentez Esteban (Paul Calderon) in hope locating Lizzie. The show’s writers go a bit overboard with the creepy eye-less Esteban who, desipite all his influence is limited in the help he can provide. Reddington and his team are too slow on multiple occasions to rescue Lizzie from Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). While Tom fights an inglorious death in the middle of the jungle, Red and his team are able to at least temporarily rescue the baby, but even the team’s small victories prove short-lived.
Choosing to not wrap-up the cliffhanger in a single episode, Lizzie remains with Kirk (a man who claims to be her biological father). While Tom survives his kidnapping, the baby and his wife remain in the hands of their enemy. With the FBI split over helping Lizzie given her decision to fake her death, and Reddington’s inability to trust Mr. Kaplan‘s (Susan Blommaert) after her involvement in the affair, the team is at less than full-strength as Kirk and Elizabeth slip away once more. If there is any hope of recovering their missing friend all doubts and hurt feelings will have to be put aside. Meanwhile, if he is to be believed, Kirk’s reunion with Liz is temporary given his medical condition. Even if he is able to allude Reddington it’s likely his time with his daughter will be short-lived. With so much focus on Lizzie’s capture and rescue we don’t get much conversation between father and daughter, here’s hoping next week’s episode will fill-in some of the blanks of Lizzie’s history and Kirk’s backstory.
