- Title: The Blacklist – Anslo Garrick, Part 1
- wiki: link
The Blacklist‘s two-part fall finale begins here with the FBI being tricked to bring Reddington (James Spader) back into the compound by the infamous Anslo Garrick (Ritchie Coster) who lays siege to the black site, cutting off communication or any hope of rescue from the outside world. Unable to evacuate, the FBI try to hold their position, including Agent Keen (Megan Boone) who is stuck in the elevator when the mercenaries cut the facility’s power and a severely-wounded Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) who locks himself and Reddington in the specially designed cell deep within the compound.
Unable to break Reddington out, and with Keen taking out his men and the signal jammers placed around the facility, Garrick grows increasingly restless at getting his hands on his longtime enemy. Eventually he begins to threaten the lives of his hostages including both of Reddington’s associates and bodyguards Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) and Luli (Deborah S. Craig), neither of who it appears will survive to next week’s conclusion of the two-parter.
The loss of both Dembe and Luli is a little shocking, although I expect Ressler to pull through despite the dire nature of his injuries. As the episode comes to a close Red has already lost two close friends and Lizzie has been taken prisoner. Based on next week’s preview, where it is obvious the group gets him out of the cell, I’m going to guess Lizzie is the proper leverage to finally force the man’s hand.
Shocking, indeed. Had my heart pumping quickly through most of the episode. Can’t wait for part two.
