- Title: The Big Leap – Nothing but Money Shots

“Nothing but Money Shots” is notable for introducing Blaire Brown as Nick’s (Scott Foley) daughter, who seems far more positive about moving to England with her mother than Nick is, and pushing Mike (Jon Rudnitsky) and Paula (Piper Perabo) together romantically (albeit through a regrettable fake date with Mike’s ex which I’ll only forgive for my love of Perabo). Brown is a nice addition here, but with her character heading overseas it’s likely we won’t see that much of her going forward. The show has been teasing putting Mike and Paula together, and now that they are, is it time for Nick to let the other shoe drop concerning a connection which the blissfully happy Mike (capped off with a sequence dancing through the streets) is completely oblivious to?
Relationships are the themes of the other storylines as well as Wayne’s (Kevin Daniels) unstable ex shows up to cause some chaos, Reggie (Ser’Darius Blain) and Gabby (Simone Recasner) get closer after her failed use of a celebrity dating app, and Julie (Teri Polo) and Raven (Karen Rodriguez) continue their weird frenemy dance concerning Julie’s husband. Despite the other judge getting more screentime, Monica’s (Mallory Jansen) following her decision to ignore doctors’ advice and keep dancing provides better, if less crazy, moments. Teri Polo manages to steal one of the episode’s best moments with some backstory to help flesh out Julie and make her more than just the jealous angry wife.
