- Title: The Big Bang Theory – The Thanksgiving Decoupling
- wiki: link
Thanksgiving proves to be a challenge as the entire gang heads to Mrs. Wolowitz‘s home for Thanksgiving dinner. Although her booming voice is heard throughout the episode, Howard‘s (Simon Helberg) mother isn’t seen in the episode but he does have to deal with Bernadette‘s (Melissa Rauch) father (Casey Sander) who has never taken a shine to his son-in-law.
Things are also awkward for Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) after her humorous Las Vegas story makes everyone realize she accidentally married her former boyfriend Zack (Brian Smith) in Vegas a few years ago. Neither Leonard’s harping on the matter nor Zack showing up at Thanksgiving dinner improve tensions. It does, however, provide quite a bit of entertainment for Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Bernadette, and Amy (Mayim Bialik).
Although Sheldon (Jim Parsons) complains tirelessly about being forced into attending Thanksgiving dinner outside the comfort of his own home (comparing the situation to the American slave trade), he’s one of the few to have a truly enjoyable holiday as he bonds with Bernadette’s father over the Thanksgiving football game, discussion of watching football with his father growing up, and more alcohol at a single sitting than the scientist has ever consumed. The result is a messy, and at times a bit disjointed (but nevertheless fun), Thanksgiving for all involved.
