- Title: The Big Bang Theory – The First Pitch Insufficiency
- wiki: link
Fretting about throwing out the first pitch at an Angels game, Howard (Simon Helberg) enlists the help of Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) in an attempt not to make a complete fool out of himself. Despite all the practice he can stand, Howard is forced to admit his shortcomings. His out-of-the-box solution, while novel, doesn’t exactly endear him to the fans.
The episode’s B-story involves a double-date with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco). An offhand comment by Sheldon about how he and Amy are a superior couple frustrates Leonard leading to a friction-filled evening and Leonard and Penny both admitting their fears about their impending wedding.
Howard’s one-note storyline offers Helberg plenty of time to milk the physical comedy for all that its worth but ultimately doesn’t go anywhere interesting or all that surprising (even with the twist involving the Mars rover). As for the B-story, it’s interesting to see Sheldon, who never wanted to be in a relationship, think so highly of his relationship with Amy who wouldn’t mind a little more of what Leonard and Penny share.
