- Title: The Big Bang Theory – The Commitment Determination
- wiki: link
Relationship change is at the center of every storyline in the show’s Eighth Season finale that teases big changes for every single character but (mostly) fails to follow through. After some nagging by Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) begin discussing a wedding date and eventually agree to a spontaneous wedding in Vegas, although a late reveal from Leonard spoils the mood and leaves the couple in a nebulous state still on their way to Vegas but without the finale delivering the long-promised ceremony.
Agreeing they are in unhealthy relationships, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) decides to break-up with Emily (Laura Spencer) after her suggestion they have sex in a cemetery while Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) decide to finally kick Stuart (Kevin Sussman) out. However, once again, when push comes to shove all three characters whimp out leaving each storyline unaltered.
Of the fours storylines the only relationship which sees change during the episode is that of Sheldon and Amy (Mayim Bialik) when Sheldon’s girlfriend reacts badly to Sheldon’s regular behavior on their fifth anniversary. While teasing one (somewhat unbelievable) outcome in the episode’s final scene, instead “The Commitment Determination” delivers the apparent end to Shamy (at least until next year’s season premiere).
