Robin‘s (Scott Menville) attempt to deal with the stress of the team refusing to listen and follow his orders takes an unusual turn when he creates a puppet stage and marionette versions of himself, Starfire (Hynden Walch), Raven (Tara Strong), Cyborg (Khary Payton), and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) in which he can play out scenes the way he believes they should have gone.
Ridiculing his attempt to keep his temper and “the crazy eyes” under control, Robin discovers Beast Boy and Cyborg have destroyed his puppet stage to pull a pretty lame practical joke the Boy Wonder literally falls for. As his anger reaches the boiling point Robin makes a wish which is granted by the Puppet Wizard who turns all of the Titans into 3D miniature marionettes in return for their souls.
The sudden shift to the CGI design of the puppets is a bit awkward, but it does allow the show to have fun with the more natural puppet movements of the more realistic marionettes. Of course being a puppet himself Robin has no more control of the group than he did when they were all human leading to the Titans fighting the Puppet Wizard to be returned to their regular 2D cartoon designs. After which the team continues to be concerned with the amount of time their leader spends with the little wooden versions of his teammates.
