The penultimate episode of Stargirl‘s sophomore season works mainly to set the stage for next week’s finale and the big showdown with Eclipso. Returned from the Shadowlands, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) reluctantly accepts the help of Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy) while trying to put the rest of the new JSA back together. Cindy’s involvement proves to be the one thing to tempt Yolanda (Yvette Monreal) back into action. Meanwhile Mike (Trae Romano) tracks down Thunderbolt, and Pat (Luke Wilson) makes a (somewhat scary) trip to the hospital to get the other member of the team out of prison. The episode ends with the heroes reunited but with looming trouble as Eclipso eyes his new host foreshadowed by Jennie (Ysa Penarejo) vision.
With only one episode to go it looks like the show will be saving quite a bit for Season Three as we haven’t had any teased appearances from Starman for several episodes now suggesting last season’s late tease won’t be developed until next season (at the earliest). And Jennie is no closer to finding her brother who at this point, despite his connection to the Shadowlands, doesn’t look to be a part of the finale. With Rick (Cameron Gellman) out of jail, thanks to Pat going quite dark and torturing the boy’s uncle, there’s also the question of whether or not Solomon Grundy might appear in the finale. And, if so, what effect might Eclipso have on the monster?
