- Title: Star Wars Rebels – Fire Across the Galaxy

The First Season of Star Wars Rebels comes to a close with the crew of the Ghost laying everything on the line to rescue Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) from the Empire. With the help of an Imperial shuttle and the stolen T.I.E. Fighter (“Fighter Flight“) and Ezra‘s (Taylor Gray) Jedi senses the crew has their way onto the Star Destroyer and a way to find their missing Jedi although, as is the case with almost all their plans, things don’t go as smoothly as expected.
“Fire Across the Galaxy” offers fans a lightsaber duel with master and padawan teaming up against the Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs) whose defeat helps the Rebels escape but also forces the Emperor to send someone new to help Grand Moff Tarkin (Stephen Stanton) deal with the Rebel threat as Darth Vader makes his first appearance on the show. It’s sad to see the Inquisitor’s apparent death after only a handful of appearances but the introduction of the Dark Lord of the Sith certainly makes up for the loss of the First Season’s most interesting villain.
Vader’s cameo isn’t the only familiar face to show up in the season finale as Senator Bail Organa (Phil LaMarr) introduces himself to Kanan’s Rebel cell and the crew of the Ghost finally meet Fulcrum for the first time who is revealed to be Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein). The appearance of both Vader and a more mature Tano, along with Kanan and his group understanding they are a part of a much larger Rebellion, opens the door for new stories and opportunities (along with some potentially dark storylines) when the show returns for its Second Season. Given how consistently the show has become I can’t wait to see what other surprises it will have in store.
