Spider-Man - Kraven the Hunter

Spidey Saturday takes us back to the 90s New York City and an animated Wall-Crawler. “Kraven the Hunter” introduces another Spidey villain in an episode that explores the origin story of Kraven (Gregg Berger) who Spider-Man runs into while saving his former girlfriend from him. Mariah (Susan Beaubian) saved his life in the jungle with an experimental drug which also boosted his baser animalistic instincts changing his personality and giving him super-strength. Spider-Man attempts to hide Mariah while she works on a cure and rescue Robbie (Rodney Saulsberry) who Spidey accidentally puts in danger.

The episode highlights Kraven’s strength and skill, as he proves more than a match for Spider-Man in their various run-ins, as well as his tracking prowess as he tracks Spider-Man’s path across the city. With the cure administered, Kraven is no longer a thread (but that isn’t the last time we’ll see him on the show). Also of note, Peter Parker’s life hits a couple of snafus as him leaving a fashion show to suit up and deal with Kraven puts him on the outs with both Mary Jane (Sara Ballantine) and Felicia Hardy (Jennifer Hale).
