- Title: Sleepy Hollow – Sanctuary

The search for a missing billionaire leads Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) to a haunted house with ties to both Crane’s past and that of his wife Katrina (Katia Winter). Crane and Abbie are able to free Lena Gilbert (Erin Cahill) from the living vines trapping her inside one the rundown colonial home’s many rooms but soon find themselves trapped in the house as well.
Other than a major revelation which we should see play out over the next few episodes there’s not much to “Sanctuary.” The setting of the works well, and the show uses flashbacks to show us what the estate was like during its prime before evil took hold. Abbie also receives visions during their time that not only help lead the threesome safely out of the house from the evil tree zombie creatures but also help her deliver shocking news to her partner: Katrina gave birth to Ichabod’s son the night the house feel to evil forces. As to what this means to Crane’s genealogy, I have my guesses, but we’ll have to wait and see.
The episode’s B-story does more to flesh out Captain Irving‘s (Orlando Jones) backstory with the arrival of his ex-wife (Jill Marie Jones) and equally feisty handicapped daughter (Amandla Stenberg) who the officer has been neglecting while getting caught up in a world of horror and dark magic. We also get a little teasing of more of a relationship between Irving and Jenny Mills (Lyndie Greenwood) who likes the Captain far more than she’s willing to admit to anyone (except perhaps his daughter).
