When the lives of of a special forces team in Darfur is put in jeopardy after the military temporarily loses connection with the satellite used to control drone strikes Scorpion heads to Antarctica to perform a quick fix. As is the nature of the show, the simple satellite upload almost immediately becomes far more complicated due to a blizzard which limits connectivity to the satellite and, while the team attempts to rectify the situation, comes close to claiming the lives of two Scorpion‘s team after Happy (Jadyn Wong) is separated from the group and Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) risks his own life to find her.
Along with a memorable setting for the episode, “White Out” forces Toby and Happy’s relationship to the next level. “White Out” also becomes the first episode in recent memory to give Ralph (Riley B. Smith) an important role in the team’s mission. Staying behind in California with Paige (Katharine McPhee) and Sylvester (Ari Stidham), Ralph is able to calmly help the troops in Darfur while the rest of the team scrambles through a blizzard to make connection to the satellite and send the troops the air support they need to make it home alive.
