When the daughter of the Governor of California (Joel Gretsch) is targeted by custom-made viruses assaulting both her computer and her biology, Walter (Elyes Gabel) and his team are brought in to find the bio-hacker before the sick young girl takes a turn for the worse. Paige (Katharine McPhee) isn’t alone in seeing how the sick girl’s plight effects Walter which forces the genius to open up about his sister (Emily Robinson, Camille Guaty) whose lifelong battle with MS is one problem Walter has never been able to solve.
While searching for the hacker the team discovers three more victims, all children with parents all tied back to a failed pharmaceutical trial. Unable to attain the pharmacological company’s files legally, the team sends Sylvester (Ari Stidham) in to memorize all of the relevant files which forces the genius to face his hypochondria in order to make it out without being caught. Identifying their would-be killer (Erick Avari), the team also discovers the man has plans for killing the governor as well.
Along with Walter, the situation involving the poisoned children also hits close to home for Agent Gallo (Robert Patrick) whose loss of his own child makes the case personal for him as well. And although we don’t get much in the way of further details about their pasts, the second episode of the series at least makes an effort to explain a bit about how Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Happy (Jadyn Wong) each view the world and the kinds of demons they carry around with them.
Great fucking show!
