- Title: Scorpion – Satellite of Love
- wiki: link
Scorpion returns for its Second Season with Walter (Elyes Gabel) leaving physical therapy early to lead the team back into action for the new Director of Homeland Security (Alana De La Garza) who brings Cabe (Robert Patrick) back into the fold and gives the team a new assignment in preventing a damaged nuclear Russian satellite from crashing into California. Alana De La Garza is an interesting addition to the cast and her character, who is more supportive of Scorpion than her predecessor while being primarily concerned with her own glory, provides a new spin on Scorpion‘s work for the Federal Government which should open new storylines for the show this season.
“Satellite of Love” offers several failures for the team before the eventual success in the manner which we’ve come to expect (putting one or more members of Scorpion in a life-threatening situation). The episode climaxes with Walter and Paige (Katharine McPhee) in a weather balloon attempting to whammy the satellite in a last-ditch heroic effort that nearly gets them both killed. As to the feelings of the pair, the season premiere allows Walter and Paige to admit their mutual attraction, and even (momentarily) act on it, but quickly pushes any romantic growth to the back burner in favor of returning things back to the status quo. In much the same way Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Happy (Jadyn Wong) remain in relationship purgatory as the months following Walter’s accident have done nothing to bring the two geniuses closer together.
