- Title: Scandal – First Lady Sings the Blues

The war between Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Rowan (Joe Morton) begins with the discovery of Jake‘s (Scott Foley) in the offices of Olivia Pope & Associates. Walking back one of the biggest moments of the series, and undercutting last week’s cliffhanger, Jake still lives as half of the episode is spent with Olivia trying to keep him alive. To do so Olivia will have to do a favor for a former KGB assassin, compromise her ethics, and even go so far as to trade Jake’s life for that of her father. She won’t completely succeed.
Life inside the White House this week involves opposition to Mellie‘s (Bellamy Young) Senate run led by the vocal Sally Langston (Kate Burton) drawing attention to the huge conflict of interest in having a United States Senator with unparalleled influence to a sitting President. Despite the best spin of the White House it falls to Olivia to spin Mellie’s perceived weakness as a strength and put her campaign back on track.
With only two episodes left to the season Olivia will finally discover the wolf she let into her hen house. Despite B613’s best efforts (and the fact that apparently their best can’t tell the difference between a live body and a dead one), Jake survives the latest ordeal. The question heading towards the season finale is will he, or anyone in Olivia’s inner circle, fail to live to see next season as the war with her father continues to heat up?
