- Title: Pretty Little Liars – Surfing the Aftershocks

The Liars return to Rosewood High as Alison (Sasha Pieterse) mourns her mother’s death with the faculty and police doing their best to shield the group from prying eyes and questions no one really wants answered. With news that Ezra (Ian Harding) has returned to Rosewood as well both Aria (Lucy Hale) and Alison make visits to gauge his willingness to support Alison’s newest lies. Given the weight of her guilt Aria also decides to tell her ex-boyfriend what really happened to Shana (Aeriel Miranda) in New York which also opens up the increased likelihood of a concerned Ezra remaining in her life for the foreseeable future.
Emily (Shay Mitchell) deals with the growing awkwardness with Paige (Lindsey Shaw) following her betrayal and their break-up while agreeing helping out a new member of the swim team (Chloe Bridges). Hanna (Ashley Benson) struggles with the person she allowed Mona (Janel Parrish) to turn her into to following Alison’s death. The two stories dovetail nicely in a single bittersweet scene between the friends where the lost Hanna admits a bit of jealousy towards Emily for her friend knowing who she is and claiming her life by coming out of the closet.
Aside from removing Jason (Drew Van Acker) as a suspect, the Liars make no new headway in determining why Alison’s mother was killed or to whom the email she was writing at the time of her death was meant for. Before leaving town Jason warns his half-sister about her father who, along with Melissa (Torrey DeVitto), has indeed been keeping secrets from Spencer (Troian Bellisario). Despite Mona’s threats and Aria’s mounting guilt all remains quiet on the A front, at least for the time being.
