- Title: Pretty Little Liars – Grave New World
- wiki: link
Before the second-half of the Pretty Little Liars‘ Fourth Season begins next January, the show offers up this Halloween episode as Emily (Shay Mitchell), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Aria (Lucy Hale), and Hanna (Ashley Benson), all dressed in Edwardian costumes, seek answers about A and Alison (Sasha Pieterse), despite warnings to get out of town by the creepy Mrs. Grunwald (Meg Foster), during an unusual gathering in the cemetery in the equally odd city of Ravenswood. Stuck on a nearly empty bus on his way to meet up with his girlfriend, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) meets the chatty Miranda (Nicole Gale Anderson) on her way to Ravenswood to meet lost family she’s only recently learned about.
While searching tunnels hidden under the city the rest of the Liars get separated from Hanna who runs into Miranda while bumping around her uncle’s home. Meanwhile the rest of the Liars find themselves led on a merry goose chase around Grunwald’s old house filled with a girl’s taped screams the threesome mistake for their lost friend. Momentarily separated from her friends, Spencer has a run-in with a gas-mask wearing stranger who, as Grunwald points out, one of the Liars knows extremely well.
Although too much of the Halloween episode is spent setting up the show’s spin-off (whose Pilot premiered after this episode aired), “Grave New World” provides some spooky fun while continuing to suggest Ezra (Ian Harding) is indeed A and the man who Alison has faked her death to stay away from. The period costumes, well-chosen for each actress, were a nice touch as well. Although the Liars don’t discover the truth about Aria’s former beau, they do have an encounter the series has been slowly building up to for over three years to end the Halloween special finally confirming their suspicions, once and for all, that Alison is alive.
SO. DAMN. GOOD. But why do I have to wait until January for new episodes? WAAAHHHH!
I love the costumes in this episode especially Emily’s and Hanna’s.
