Reunions are the big theme of “The New Neverland” which begins with Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and Eric (Gil McKinney) finally finding each other and the return of the Jolly Roger and its crew to Storybrooke. Wendy Darling (Freya Tingley) is finally reunited with her brothers John (Matt Kane) and Michael (James Immekus) and Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) returns home to Belle (Emilie de Ravin). Despite being relieved to be home, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) can’t shake the feeling there’s something wrong with Henry (Jared Gilmore) and becomes even more concerned after Pan’s Shadow, who only obeys Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), begins killing members of the town.
The attacks of Pan Shadow lead Regina (Lana Parrilla) to take Henry to the most fortified place in town, in the lair where she keeps her magic, which is just what Pan wants as he plans to recast the curse and turn the town into the new Neverland. Releasing Pan outside the bounds of Storybrooke, Emma plans to kill their enemy once and for all only to discover the boy inside Pan’s body is actually her son. However her discovery is too late to stop Pan from putting his plans into motion leading into next week’s mid-season finale which could seriously shakeup the town going into the show’s winter break.
Flashbacks to this week’s episode center around Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming‘s (Josh Dallas) honeymoon which quickly becomes a quest to find Medusa and decapitate the creature to use her head as the weapon to kill Regina. The honeymoon adventure nearly ends disastrously for the newlyweds but also teaches Snow an important lesson (one which her daughter desperately needs to learn as well).
