Alice (Sophie Lowe) and the Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) set out to Mimsy Meadows to recover the genie’s bottle under the Towering TumTum Tree and move one step closer to rescuing Cyrus (Peter Gadiot) from his cage of silver, but first they must deal with various obstacles including a spiteful fairy (Jordana Largy) who the Knave had previously wronged and with Jafar (Naveen Andrews) and the Red Queen (Emma Rigby) who have their own plans for the bottle and are using the White Rabbit (John Lithgow) to help discover its location.
The episode included flashbacks to Jafar’s long search for the genie and the circumstances which led to finding his way to Wonderland and his early days with Alice including teaching his new master how to defend herself with a sword and their first kiss. When the Queen recovers the bottle on her own she uses it as leverage to renegotiate her partnership with Jafar, who is less than pleased with the new arrangement. With one villain holding the genie and the other holding the bottle Alice and the Knave are left empty handed.
With the bottle gone, Alice begins to believe her quest may be pointless and that her love may have moved on without her. On the eve of despair, our heroine is given new hope with a message from the man she loves pleading with her to leave Wonderland and never return which, knowing that Cyrus lives, is the one thing Alice can never do. As the episode comes to a close our heroine sets out with the Knave once more to brave whatever obstacles may lay in her path to find her genie.
