- Title: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Who You Really Are

Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) returns to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., although the Asgardian warrior is hardly herself for most of the episode given an incredibly convenient level of amnesia that allows the plot to unfold but doesn’t rob her of skills and periphery knowledge necessary to understand and track down the arrival of a Kree warrior (Eddie McClintock) on Earth. Obvious to everyone except Coulson’s team, the Kree’s mission will eventually tie back to the Terrigen Crystal and the underground city where Skye was transformed into something other than human.
After wasting much of last week’s mid-season premiere “Who Are You Really” finally moves forward on the events of the winter finale as Skye‘s (Chloe Bennet) secret is revealed to the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. Some take the news better than others. That, along with the conspiracy of Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki) and Mac (Henry Simmons) reaching a tipping point, forces one of the characters to make a hasty decision and leaves the entire team on edge. By the end of the episode the team is fractured, Skye is under observation, and the latest pair of wolves invited into the hen house appear ready to strike against their so-called friends.
Skye’s eventual reveal, and the action she takes to save her friends, is well handled (once the show stops pussyfooting around). The writers have some fun with Sif’s amnesia but it’s a cheap plot device that only exists to delay the not-at-all shocking reveal of the Kree’s true purpose on the planet late in the episode. “Who You Really Are” seems to suggest that Skye’s days with S.H.I.E.L.D. may be limited given her teammates concerns and her inability to keep them safe suggesting that, as predicted in the mid-season finale, daughter may indeed seek out father before the season comes to a close.
