- Title: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – T.A.H.I.T.I.

To save Skye‘s (Chloe Bennet) life Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team will break laws and countless orders as Coulson shares his full top secret medical file with Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), admits the truth of his resurrection to Ward (Brett Dalton), and refuses to turn over the captive Ian Quinn (David Conrad) until Skye is out of the woods. Thankfully for Coulson, the man S.H.I.E.L.D. sends to take the prisoner from the team is old friend John Garrett (Bill Paxton) willing to help out and give Coulson team’s the time necessary to find T.A.H.I.T.I. and the mysterious drug GH 325 which could save Skye’s life (which is exactly what the Clairvoyant wants).
The episode is memorable for several reasons, most of which occur in the final few moments of “T.A.H.I.T.I.” as Coulson discovers the facility where he was brought back to life, where the miracle drug comes from and why he has immediate second thoughts about using it to save Skye’s life, and sets up next week’s episode by introducing Elena Satine as Lorelei who will cause a recognizable face from Asgard (Jaimie Alexander) to make an appearance next week.
Garrett’s past relationships with both Coulson and Ward make him an intriguing character should the series choose to bring Paxton back for another episode down the line. I also liked the small moment between Simmons and Garrett’s subordinate suggesting we may not have seen the last of Antoine Triplett (B.J. Britt) either. As to the discoveries Coulson makes (and chooses not to share with his team), we’ll have to wait and see how much will be explained to either the audience or Skye (whose life is saved by the miracle alien blood).
