- Title: Lucifer – Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire

“Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire” introduces Tricia Helfer as Lucifer’s mother who is reborn into the body of a recent murder victim. Still questioning his mother’s motives and actions, Lucifer enlists Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) while the devil works with Chloe (Lauren German) to solve the murders he is suspicious his mother may have caused. Eventually clearing his mother’s name and setting up her chance to assume the life of Charlotte (the murder victim whose body she now inhabits), Lucifer is faced with the same dilemma – what to do about his mother.
Charlotte, no other name is given for the character other than Mum, spends most of the episode attempting to convince Lucifer that she has always had his best interests at heart. The theme of this spills into the episode’s B-story involving Lucifer’s attempt to butt into Chloe’s mothering by buying Trixie a doll. Given this and Lucifer’s high interest in the murder (which he knows far too much about than he should) the tension between Chloe and Lucifer is even higher than normal over the course of the investigation. If Charlotte is staying I’m curious to see how he will explain her presence to Chole and to Amenadiel (DB Woodside), who has his own problems as the angel appears to finally be paying for his recent duplicitous actions.
