- Title: Longmire – Wanted Man

With Branch (Bailey Chase) on forced leave to recuperate (while actually still searching for David Ridges), and Walt (Robert Taylor) taking personal time to look up a few old enemies (Peter Stormare, Rodney Eastman, Kenneth Wayne Bradley) he believes capable of masterminding the the deaths of his wife, his wife’s killer, and Henry’s impending trail, Vic (Katee Sackhoff) is left in charge to deal with a missing rooster and a complaint by Mathias (Zahn McClarnon) that a Native American was drugged and kidnapped by two white men. When the man figures Travis (Derek Phillips) as one of his attackers, Vic begins to grow suspicious especially after Branch alibis his friend with a story so weak Vic immediately pokes holes in it.
While attempting to find Hector (Jeffrey De Serrano) by offering an award for information about the missing witness’ whereabouts, Cady (Cassidy Freeman) learns a lesson about how the law works on the reservation by Henry (Lou Diamond Phillips) and Adele (Nia Peeples) and why a man like Hector is necessary to make sure justice is done. Needing a little help with his off-the-books investigation, Walt enlists the help of both Lucian (Peter Weller) and Jamie DeBell (Bob Clendenin). Eventually Walt and Branch’s investigations intersect as the sheriff and his deputies find Hector but not before David Ridges pays Hector a visit making sure the vigilante never leaves his current hiding spot alive.
There’s really nothing but bad news for Walt as he’s unable to narrow his suspect list as each of the men seem to have the means, temperament, and motive for going after Sheriff Longmire, and the parole of Malachi (Graham Greene) foreshadows nothing but trouble for both the sheriff and his best friend. Given how her honesty in Philadelphia destroyed her life, Vic’s decision to keep Branch’s illegal activities to herself obviously weighs on her (providing the episode’s best scene as she can’t quite bring herself to discuss the matter with Walt). It will interesting to see how events play out between the two deputies, especially now that Branch has support to back-up his theory that Ridges is still alive.
