- Title: Locke & Key – Irons in the Fire

Two separate plotlines are at play in “Irons in the Fire.” Josh‘s (Brendan Hines) investigation into the journal which Nina (Darby Stanchfield) provided allows for flashbacks to fill in some of the backstory of the Locke family and their history with the portal to the other dimension, demons, and keys. Elsewhere, Kinsey (Emilia Jones) and Tyler (Connor Jessup) gather their friends and prepare for a fight with the new turned minions of Gabe/Dodge (Griffin Gluck) which ends with one of their friends being turned into a demon leading to the need for a new key.
A bit of a necessary back-fill, the flashbacks still take up an inordinate amount of the episode. Although they give us the creation of the Omega Key and the Black Door by Benjamin (Carson MacCormac) the episode skips over how exactly it was put in place which raises more than a few logistical questions. The episode also offers the beginning of a new subplot with the banished Eden (Hallea Jones) looking for a new partner by playing on the half-discovered clues which Josh has managed to uncover.
