- Title: Legion – Chapter 5

After recent events David (Dan Stevens) begins showing a frightening level of confidence in himself and in his abilities. While this allows him to get closer to Syd (Rachel Keller) and rescue his sister, David’s outward calm comes to an end putting both Amy (Katie Aselton) and Syd in danger when the malevolent force inside his mind turns its attention to them. David’s gleeful use of power to save Amy is shown in video footage where he effortlessly kills his way through Division 3 to rescue his sister. More in control of his powers than ever before, David is a force to be reckoned with… but is it really David in control?
After rescuing Amy, David’s fall from unstoppable mutant to basket case is a quick one leading to a bizarre sequence in his old home where his new friends come to rescue him. Cary (Bill Irwin) believes he now understands what is going on inside David’s head, diagnosing the malevolent outside personality which has someone burrowed into his mind and become a part of him. Depending on how complicated the show wants to get to explain David, we’ll have to wait to see if it ends here or, like in the comics, there are more levels to explore. David does learn one important fact in this episode as the show opens up the door to deal with his parentage for the first time. However, all of that will apparently have to wait as David’s mind is used to reset events back to the asylum and we are forced to ask again, just what is real?
