“I Thought You’d Be Happier To See Me” and “You’re A Long Way From Home” continue the thread of Legacies exploring the fallout of Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) unlocking her vampire side as Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and Josie (Kaylee Bryant) enter the comatose mind of Alaric (Matthew Davis) and discover Hope’s responsibility for her situation, causing the Super Squad to get to planning how to take down their friend. The episodes also offer a pair of returns as Rebekah (Claire Holt) shows up in a failed attempt to get Hope back on the right path and then the tribrid takes a road trip to enlist the unwilling help of Clark (Nick Fink) for information about those in charge of Triad Industries who want her dead.
Fans of The Originals should enjoy the appearance of Rebekah, even if she isn’t able to help her niece. Clark’s return helps point Hope in the directions of the mysterious group introduced a few seasons back who have largely been ignored since Malivore became the show’s primary big bad. Has the character found redemption in the suburbs? Or has Hope’s appearance opened a door, revealing a past that might not allow for the quiet future he had planned?
Lizzie nearly takes a dark turn over the course of the two episodes, almost going through with black magic that would have traded her father’s life for another terminally ill patient in the hospital. Speaking of Alaric, he makes an unexpected appearance in Limbo just as Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) and the former Necromancer (Ben Geurens) discover the method to earn their way across the River Styx. Will the headmaster join them? Or, with the news he brings about Hope, will Landon’s future change again? And, if Hope can’t be reasoned with, will Cleo (Omono Okojie) share what inspiration has brought her and clue the Super Squad into what might be able to kill their friend?
