You have to love an episode of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness that basically becomes Godzilla before everything is said and done. Tired of being the smallest, and most overlooked, member of the Furious Five, Mantis (Max Koch) decides to drink a few sips of a black magic potion that “biggens” him to the same size as his teammates.
At first Mantis is thrilled with his new condition as he finds joy at being able to all the things denied to him given his diminuative stature. However, when trying to help Po (Mick Wingert) fight off Fung (John DiMaggio), Wall Eye (DiMaggio), and Lidong (Jim Cummings) the martial arts master finds his increased size has effected both his quickness and his ability to properly practice Kung Fu. With Po at the mercy of the crocodiles, Mantis decides to drink more of the potion until he towers over the village and trees.
Things get even crazier when Lidong, angered that he’s no longer the biggest creature in the land, drinks several gulp of the potion and becomes a towering monster providing the show with a Godzilla-style monster fight between behemoths before Po is able to get an antidote from Lupo (Tress MacNeille) and Mantis remembers being small has its advantages, too. Aside from the nice message about being comfortable with who you are (or as the crocs describe it: having a healthy body image), “Huge” takes a simple concept and has a lot of fun with the giant monster battle and later the much smaller Mantis being responsible for taking down the towering Lidong.
