- Title: Hawaii Five-0 – Ua ola loko i ke aloha

Carol Burnett makes a return to Hawaii Five-0 as Deb McGarrett to bury her husband and to scratch a few items off her own bucket list before her time runs out as well. In the other storyline Five-0 investigates a murder tied to the discovery of an old WWII Japanese bunker filled with (now missing) explosions originally intended to be used as part of the attack on Pearl Harbor more than half a century ago. The episode is notable for moving past the teasing stage and throwing Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Abby (Julie Benz) together romantically, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by their teammates.
As we’ve seen in the past, when dealing with historical events that tie back to Hawaii the show can be a bit heavy-handed at times (even when its heart is in the right place). Thankfully Jerry’s (Jorge Garcia) involvement, particularly the scene of his procurement of a microfiche reader, helps lighten the mood when needed. And even with Deb’s storlyine the writers provide some lighter moments as well including her shopping spree and McGarrett‘s (Alex O’Loughlin) intense discomfort at allowing his aunt to drive his truck which is even more perfect because Danny (Scott Caan), the only one who would truly appreciate it, isn’t there to witness the event.
