Hawaii Five-0 enters the world of espionage as Chris Vance guest-stars as a British spy hunting down computer code which terrorists plan to use to hack nuclear silos across Europe creating the largest nuclear meltdown in history. Aside from the script which expects us to believe all nuclear weapons across multiple countries can be hacked remotely by a single hack, “No ke ali’i wahine a me ka ‘aina” provides it share of enjoyable fun and intrigue as Five-0 first hunts down the spy and then begins working with him to stop a world-wide disaster.
“No ke ali’i wahine a me ka ‘aina” stands out from most other Hawaii Five-0 episodes in that the second-half takes place outside of the Hawaiian island. Even if the ending is a bit anti-climactic, Vance is well-cast as the disreputable spy and his fight with McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) proves to be one of the few times the Commander hasn’t been able to take down a target one-on-one. Even if the story gets exponentially goofier than it needs to during its final act, there’s still much to enjoy.
