- Title: Hawaii Five-0 – Ku I Ka Pili Koko
- wiki: link
On a bad tip by an ATF informant (Alvin Joiner) Five-0 helped put in prison, the group is lured into an explosion leaving McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and Danny (Scott Caan) trapped under several feet of rubble. While Catherine (Michelle Borth) and Grover (Chi McBride) help with the rescue effort, Kono (Grace Park) and Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim) head back to the prison to find the source of the tip and the reason someone was willing to blow up and entire building to take out members of Five-0.
“Ku I Ka Pili Koko” marks to return of Amber (Lili Simmons) who meets Grace (Teilor Grubbs) for the first time (unexpectedly after a night of passion with the girl’s father) and keeps Danny’s daughter company with her father buried alive under tons of concrete. After rescue, with Danny headed to the hospital with Amber and Grace, McGarrett learns of the connection between the bad tip that led both he and Danny into a trap and a former CIA officer (David Gautreaux) with connections to operations in Cambodia 40 years ago.
Ending with a deadly confrontation between McGarrett and the former agent, the head of Five-0 gets a least a few answers as to the identity of the person removed from the Cambodian grave as the series ties the events back into the ongoing storyline between McGarett and Wo Fat.
I’m happy to see Simmons return. Although I doubt the sincerity of Danny’s new optimistic take on life sticking around in any real form going forward, here’s hoping we see their relationship continue to develop. As for McGarrett’s quest, knowing the secrecy of the grave surrounds Wo Fat’s parents and 40 year-old unsanctioned CIA hit that took down the wrong target gives him a place to start but for any real answers I’d expect we’ll have to wait until at least the end of the season.
