While Mike (Aaron Tveit) works to satisfy Paige‘s (Serinda Swan) obsession with rescuing the kidnapped teenage girls, including attempting to buy the lot from Fritz (Jon Sklaroff), an attempted suicide attempt by Kelly Badillo (Brianna Brown) comes dangerously close to jeopardizing Briggs‘ (Daniel Sunjata) undercover assignment getting close to the Solano Cartel’s man inside the gang task force Sid Markham (Carmine Giovinazzo).
Coming up empty on both tying the human trafficking or proof tying Markham to the cartel, Mike pushes Johnny‘s (Manny Montana) to use his relationship with Lucia (Jamie Gray Hyder) to get back in with the family by convincing her to take him to the family’s compound in Mexico. Meanwhile Charlie (Vanessa Ferlito) reaches out to Billy (Chris Browning) to put her in touch with a thief (Brit Morgan) crazy enough to help her rob a dirty cop’s safety deposit box of millions in bribe and drug money.
Brit Morgan’s introduction as the crazy but super-smart Amber is the highlight of the episode as tease all kinds of trouble she and Charlie may get themselves into in the episodes to come. Briggs can’t manage to keep his personal and professional lives from colliding but does his best to prevent them from exploding in his face (at least for the time being). Kelly’s return opens up questions on both sides about who Briggs really is and his relationship to the woman and her husband. Despite falling further for Lucia, Johnny follows orders and convinces her to return to Mexico realizing doing so puts them both in extreme danger likely far from any reasonable support system.
