- Title: Emerald City – Beautiful Wickedness
- wiki: link
“Beautiful Wickedness” begins to fill us in on the backstory of the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) as current events push Oz closer to war. In flashbacks we see the events which brought the Wizard and the two scientists (Gina McKee, Gina Bellman) to Oz all those years ago. Through the help of West (Ana Ularu) we also learn more about Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) and the wagon full of young witches he was transporting to Glinda (Joely Richardson), suggesting that the good witch is equally deceptive and tarnished in this morally ambiguous version of Oz.
The show continues to give us more answers than Dorothy (Adria Arjona) as her meeting with the Wizard only tells that he’s also from Kansas and once knew her mother. The discovery of Glinda’s treachery leads to an unfortunate fate for Lady Ev‘s (Stefanie Martini) father as battle lines are drawn for a war between magic and science. The first causality comes in the form of Anna (Isabel Lucas) as the show continues to reveal to us (but not Dorothy) just what kind of man the Wizard of Oz truly is. If Dorothy must pick a side, whose will she choose?
