- Title: Daredevil – Resurrection

Daredevil‘s Third Season picks up with Matt Murdock‘s (Charlie Cox) survival at the end of The Defenders. Bruised, battered, and broken, Murdock is helped to Saint Agnes where he finds time to heal and hide from the world. Deaf in one ear, with his powers on the fritz, Murdock struggles with the new status quo while allowing his friends to believe he died. Meanwhile, Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) has kept Matt’s apartment and bills paid for, despite eveyone – including Foggy (Elden Henson) – advising her that their friend is dead. And locked away in prison, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) begins to contemplate a new plan to return to the world and protect the woman he loves.
Despite the mountain of Murdock’s self-loathing, there are some nice pieces here including Joanne Whalley as the hard-ass nun who hopes to save Matt’s soul. With so much of the episode dedicated to a broken Matt Murdock hidden away from the world, slowly rediscovering a bit of his abilities, the episode feels very much like the show coming full circle to the earlier episodes of the series. The Kingpin segment is largely foreshadowing (and is a bit obtrusive to the otherwise narrow focus of the season premiere), and could easily have been saved for the next episode. Still, it appears Daredevil won’t be the only character returning from the dead this season.
Halfway through and loving this new season!
