- Title: Daredevil – In the Blood
- wiki: link
“In the Blood” turns attention away from the vigilante of Hell’s Kitchen to center on other stories. First, after learning about Daredevil‘s (Charlie Cox) friend, the Russian brothers kidnap Claire (Rosario Dawson) in an attempt to learn his identity and lure the masked man into a trap. Things don’t go exactly according to plan as Daredevil is able to ring up another victory over the Russian mob and lead one of the brothers into making a fatal mistake and leading the series to reveal just why every member of his organization is right to fear Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio).
The two other major storylines of the week concern Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) convincing Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) to continue investigating the case after it appears he wants to dump the story and we get a closer look at Wilson Fisk and his early awkward attempts to date art dealer Vanessa Marianna (Ayelet Zurer). The major takeaway about Vanessa which we’ll learn from this episode and the next is although she may be occassionally shocked by her boyfriend’s behavior she’s also drawn to the darkness and power of the man suggesting Fisk may have indeed found his soulmate (which will create new problems from the would-be crimelord over the remaining episodes).
In an episode backloaded with action sequences, “In the Blood” spends time developing the season’s main bad guy while having Daredevil continue to work his way up the ladder of the organization. The extremely brutal murder committed by the Kingpin (caused more by embarrassment than any grand plan) will be the first domino to fall in an escalating battle between the hero and villain and the beginning of the Kingpin’s attempt to gain sole control over Hell’s Kitchen.
