- Title: Covert Affairs – Sensitive Euro Man
- wiki: link
After making the hard call of going to the CIA with evidence that links Ryan McQuaid (Nic Bishop) to the Chicago bombing, Annie (Piper Perabo) chooses to ignore Auggie‘s (Christopher Gorham) advice and follow her heart which tells her that McQuaid is being set-up. With the spurned Hayley (Amy Jo Johnson) back on the case looking for a connection between the pair, McQuaid and Annie look into the motives of McQuaid’s top assistant Caitlyn Cooke (Perrey Reeves) whose actions suggest she has framed her boss for one attack while planning another which only Annie can stop in time.
Although McQuaid is cleared, he’s severely injured by Cooke whose own murder Annie believes was accomplished to cover up a deeper mystery which the CIA is only now becoming aware of. The mid-season finale wraps up the main storyline of the Chicago bombing which brought Annie and McQuaid together. At the same time “Sensitive Euro Man” also uncovers a hazy Russian conspiracy and sets up a motive for revenge laying the groundwork for Annie’s adventures over the final six episodes of the season when Covert Affairs returns in the Fall.
And with McQuaid’s company in turmoil, McQuaid in intensive care, Cooke exposed (and dead), and Annie no longer a member of the CIA it will be interesting to see where her path leads over the remaining six episodes of the season which, I’m happy to say, include another appearance by Eyal (Oded Fehr). Wherever they take her, here’s hoping the end of the season continues the same wild ride we’ve gotten so far as Annie will likely jump right back into the breach with limited resources, little back-up, questionable intel, and her own instincts to keep her alive and suss out the true motives behind the bombings.
